Overall Purpose of Job

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • To follow the Hospital admissions process by documenting History and Physical examination.
  • Be accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
  • To assess/review and document findings for patients as requested by the attending Consultant and/or Nursing Staff.
  • To provide Clinical Cover for procedures undertaken in departments e.g. Cardiology Stress Test and Radiology IVP Injections.
  • To prescribe medications for patients as required i.e.
    • as directed by Consultant
    • all patients admitted are seen by a SHO and medications prescribed
  • To respond to emergency situations.
  • Participates in ward rounds.
  • Completes the discharge process with a discharge letter.
  • To respond to any Adverse Occurrences e.g. injuries, falls, sudden illnesses etc, suffered by patients, visitors or staff.
  • To contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives wherever possible.
  • To protect and enhance the reputation of the Beacon Hospital at all times.
  • To adhere to hospital policies and procedures e.g. blood guidelines, infection control.
  • To implement quality standards ensuring that a quality service is provided at all times.
  • To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.
  • To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
  • Liaises with nursing supervisors, nurse managers and nurses in charge when on duty.
Demonstrate importance of evidence based practice and clinical effectiveness.

Person Specification

Qualifications Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent.
Current Full Medical Council Registration.
Experience

Experience in an acute hospital setting.
