Overall Purpose of Job

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

 

 

1.                  To promote ethos and philosophy of the Beacon Hospital.

2.                  To undertake the role of Staff Nurse in the Theatre Department and demonstrate the required techniques and procedures.

3.                  To promote, deliver and maintain a high quality of patient care, reviewing standards and initiating change when necessary.

4.                  To be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating effective leadership qualities and communication skills.

5.                  To contribute to effective leadership within the Theatre Department and maintain good staff morale.

6.                  To participate in the delivery of care in both a practical and teaching capacity.

7.                  To assist in the clinical management of the Theatre Department on a 24 hour basis.

8.                  To be conscious of budgetary costs within the Department.

 

Main Duties

 

 

Miscellaneous

 

1.                  To assist new staff with their introduction to theatre, using planned orientation programmes.

2.                  To exercise effective leadership by achieving high morale, based on professional behaviour, sound organisation, good interpersonal relationships and communication

3.                  To participate in in-house training and further education programmes.

4.                  To develop clinical, managerial and personal competencies within the team.

Person Specification

 

Qualifications

 

·         Registered Nurse on live Register of An Bord Altranais.

·         Peri-operative course desirable.

 

Experience

(Amount and Type)

 

·         1 years’ experience in an acute setting desirable.

·         Interested in further training and personal development.

 

 

Job Specific Competencies and Knowledge

 

 

  • To participate in the delivery of service, ensuring patient’s needs are met, and nursing actions are planned, implemented, evaluated and documented accurately.
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures set down by the Beacon Hospital.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills.

·         Be an active participant within the Department.

Personal Competencies

 

·         All posts in Beacon Hospital require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service. Therefore, the post holder will be required to demonstrate flexibility as and when required by their manager of hospital management.
